If Pepsi is suddenly free, then I will drink Pepsi instead of Cola which is not free. It does not make any difference to my Stomach , but my pocket.

However, for software , especially the application software for people to communicate between each other, it is a different story. Thinking about 90% of the PC users , which I will communicate with by sending files back and forth will use Microsoft's products, I will be stay as one of the users of Microsoft's products so that there won't be compactable problems when I communicate with the rest of 90%
users which use Microsoft's products. That is why I said standard is very important .Can you imagine how inconvient it will be if FORD's cars can only be powered by petroleum from Shell, while GM's can only be powered from Taxice ? You will end up of looking for the right gas station whenever you need to fill up your tank !!!!!That's is why
Microsoft has the majority of the market for certain software which need standard, it is just by nature of this industry, nothing to do with monopoly , and it is not Microsoft's fault. If you want to blame someone for Microsoft's domination of certain software market, well, just blame the consumers. No one force the consumers to buy Microsoft's products, it is the consumers' choice, that is what I call
free market. Interference by the government is not a good sign, especially for the competitors by sacrifice the consumers.
