Gee Nemer, that is a really poetic tribute to your friend, it reads as well as the little one page vingettes that are on the last page of the Sunday NYTimes Magazine.

It's amazing the impact that our friends and those we know and live near have on us and on those around us. A real sense of interconnectedness.

It sounds like you lost a true friend, my deepest condolences

John

Nemer,

thanks for sharing those thoughts...for those of us who have lost close friends and relatives,,,,it's a very private pain and difficult to share...such sensitivity is not easily translated through cyberspace....your love of your friend came across loud and clear.

best wishes in this difficult time.

condolences from a lurker.

mike

OFF TOPIC

Death is but a Shadow,
Long in the Morning and Long in the Evening

It is but a reminder that our Life
is in the Sun

Our Love is in the Sun

For Our Future is in the Shadows.

In the Evening with the Embers of our Toil,
What remains is our Friends Love.

Life is a Gift Live it
Life is a Gift Seek it
Life is a Gift Love it

It's Joy is Freedom

Nemer
I've just buried an uncle who was an old friend.
He was a difficult individual hardened by his life.
He was a Lincoln scholar out of Nebraska.
He fought Romel in Africa, landed in Sicily, boot of Italy and again at Anzio. He walked through France up the spine of European and into the Battle of the Bulge. Fought at the Rhine River crossings

He was one of the first officers to walk into the Dachau concentration camp.
Bev fought in Korea and Vietnam where is severed in Hawaii as the liaison between the military and the press. Taught at the war college and wrote speeches for Eisenhower.

What's left is the silence and hopefully not to many "What If's?"

My Best...Thanks for sharing,
Chip
