Steve,
I very much appreciated your posts on the WCII thread. As
for 80-85% market share. Its as simple as pulling up
the latest Q reports from Brocade (20 mill rev.) and
Ancor(3.5 mill rev.).

But this market is obviously just beginning and most of
Brocade's revenue last Q came from Sequent I believe and
Mcdata.

Although Brcd has large oems, lets not forget that Ancor
has won Sun, who may be the largest volume switch maker
over the next several years. The revenue from Sun is not
supposed to start coming in till 4Q for Ancor. I HIGHLY
doubt people like SUNW and MTIC would oem Ancor if they did
not possess the critical features. ;-) 1999 should be
interesting as far as the SAN world volume ramp up for
everyone (not that stock prices haven't impressed you yet ;-)

Even here is a post from an industry insider, Roy Sardina,
who has posted in the Ancor thread from time to time.
He angered some shareholders of Ancor in the past because
he wanted to buy Ancr a long time ago for pretty cheap,
but he still likes them i believe. He used to work at
Brocade and now works at G2, a FC hub maker.

Many people argue that Ancor's products are superior and
that their old management (a different ceo when they lost
sqnt to brcd a few years ago before the san market even
existed) had the place in the wrong direction. There is
whole new team there management wise and they have kept all
their critical asic players/engineers. This is an EXCELLENT write up
from a well respected poster named
Technocrat.

its two parts.

another post.

Message 11067781

although its been frustrating from time to time in waiting
for the SAN market to take off (many inside experts thought
Last year was the year of FC), i have been an Ancor
shareholder for a few years and tried to play brcd as an
ipo but i sold too soon (sold last shares out at 105). i'm
jealous of brcd's market cap, but very much believe ancr
and brcd are the two leaders.

hope i have helped in some way,
