Here's not a death penalty debate. Here's an alternative.

Any person who is convicted of committing a felony using a firearm has both his or her hands amputated. Mandatory punishment. No exceptions.

Cruel and unusual? Less so than corporal punishment.

Instantly recognizable. Alerts everybody around to how dangerous they are. And it's damn hard to shoot a gun with no hands. And I think it would be a great deterrent -- release those people back into society and everybody who saw them would be deterred, IMO.

Okay, so it's a nutty idea. It's so nutty it might actually solve the problem.

So tell me how sick I am. <g>
