Merlin,

The new issue of Upside had a lengthy article on I2 Technologies, Inc which I am sure you are familiar with. They are a leader in the supply chain management software.

The article goes on to say that I2 Is developing their product to link customer resource management and e-commerce with planning, apparently this is an area that doesn't exist currently. As the article states I2 wants to implement a policy where when a customer places an order, it will trigger a manufacturing order, determine where and how to provide the needed materials and capacity, and then accurately report back when to expect delivery.Nothing happens until the customer places the order.

What caught my eye is that they referenced that capabilities that deal directly with the customer are already available from Broadvision, Vignette, and one of yours and my favorites, Sebel Systems. One main difference they pointed out is that I2's customer relationship capabilities are tied to the back office very securely.

Any thoughts as to the competitive aspects to Sebel and is I2 enough different to consider it as a separate potential investment? I say potential as I2 is not a gorilla or even possibly a candidate but over the next year who knows? Comments??
