Charles, You said that without commonly held beliefs, people will lurch from one thought process to another. You didn't mention anything about civilizations. Civilizations can hold together very nicely with differing religious practices. You seem to be implying with your quotes that only Western Judeo-Christian practices have any real meaning. Nothing could be further from the truth. I recently heard that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. The reality is that , if anything, Judeo-Christian thought is losing influence, as more and more people are turning towards traditional organized religion. Mark
