You know, I never think these forums do much good in persuading opposite opinion holders. In general, they're nothing more than blood-pressure-raisers for me. But, that said, I have to say the following: AAAAAAAUUUUGGGGGHHH!!

But sadly, it won't work to rely on parents alone.

That's an outstanding summation of exactly what drives me nuts about liberals and their "It-Takes-A-Village-Idiot" philosophy: The State knows more about how to raise your children than you do. And we want to ensure that The State's approved thoughts about everything from homosexuality to racism are inculcated on everyone (can you say Khmer Rouge??).

Thoughts are not illegal. I can think whatever I want and teach my children to think whatever I want. That's what's so insane about hate crime statutes (what a redundant phrase: who ever hear of a love crime?). There are statutes on the books in every state that carry sanctions for murder. But that's not enough for liberals. They want to jail you for the thoughts in your head when you commit the murder -- as though that somehow makes the crime worse. You can't legislate that everyone love one another (as wonderfully utopian as that concept might be). And you can't legislate away hateful thoughts. It's so Big-Brother ish that it's comical.

Finally, what business is it of a public SCHOOL to be dealing with morals education, anyway? What standing do they have? Cripes, they can't even teach reading and arithmetic -- facts-based subjects. Perhaps if they worried less about Judy's two mommies and more about multiplication tables, test scores would improve.

So why send your children to school at all? School cannot provide all advantages to your children;

Well, the concept I always understood was that schools were where one learns math, reading, writing, geography, history, civics, and science. And that one learns religion and morals at church, at sunday school, or in the home.

I now return you to your local investing channel...

I send my kids to school to learn to read, write, add, etc. The schools should leave the political and social indoctrination to the parents. I'd rather my kid know how to use a computer and write a complete sentence as opposed to knowing how many homeless people live in NYC or some other useless factoid. JLA
