Mark, thanks for the interesting link. It's a very selfserving and sometimes misleading document. But such is the nature of hype. :) Example:Seagate was well ahead of the competition when we launched the U series, a disc drive line for sub-$700 PCs, with a time-to-market schedule that was months ahead of anyone else. So if you bought one of these new PCs, your disc drive is probably one of ours. The U series is our most successful product family to date, and has captured a significant share of both the original equipment manufacturer and distribution markets. And our third generation of this product line will ship soon to meet the demands of a growing value-class PC market estimated to reach $47.8 billion by 2003. We believe that Seagate is in an enviable position. The company has only begun to penetrate top PC OEMs and will gain further ground based on three things: (1) abolishing the premium for 7200RPM drives, (2) setting new low-end price points for low-end PCs and consumer devices and (3) competitive Time to Volume.?
