Mike,

As of current stock prices for VRTS, SNDK and ZOOX I get SEG's holdings in these to be worth almost $5 billion. Maybe they were being conservative or maybe they have sold some shares or aren't counting some that they will sell, i.e. SNDK. Either way the market is valuing the drive business pretty cheaply.

I also think they were trying to make a connection to the Internet frenzy. Sort of like, "We put the storage in dot-com".
