Chuck, why not apply the same harsh standards of judgement to AMD and Athlon as you do with Intel and Merced? All I hear is the regular disclaimer, "If AMD executes," followed by proclamations of AMD already securing the high end for years to come.

Chuckles - re: "Do you remember the last time Intel showed off alpha silicon?"

Mendocino/Celeron - the one with 128K on-chip L2 cache - went into production on Alpha Silicon.

I believe Andy Grove demoed this product in Taiwan within one week of first silicon - in around May of last year.
