You are so right about correlations. Look at this link and click on the dow 87-99 correlation. A huge percentage of years look very similar.http://www.mrci.com/qpnight.htm I have been a shareholder for 4 years now and I want to spread around an idea that Warren must be missing. Look at FUN. It is selling at a pe of 13 with a 6.7% dividend. It has grown at a double digit rate forever(the main park is 100 years old.)Look at the roe. I look at this and can't imagine he hasn't thought about it, and now it has gotten cheaper in part due to the recent rash of accidents. I am not trying to spread a rumor, and I want to disclose that I do have FUN. I used to got to Cedar Point a lot as a kid so I have always watched it since it went public. It is in partnership form and I wonder if that stops Buffett, but I wouldn't think so. Or does anyone have any other ideas for him and his 20 billion? This would take care of 2 of it but he still would have 18 burning a hole in his pocket. If this seems silly, lets not forget that several of his recent purchases, including Flight Safety and Borsheim's, did occur as a result of contacts with existing shareholders, although VERY large ones whom he knew well. I don't know how we'd do it anyway, except if we found something obviously cheap we could bombard him with e-mails and faxes. I know it sounds stupid but what the hell. As I evaluate a non- tech companies, I always have it in mind whether he would buy it and why or why not. I bet you guys do the same thing. Finally, he REALLY has NO reason not to be buying in shares. It's gotten silly. And he hasn't done it yet as of the 6/30.
