The Canadian Gov't as you know has been selling gold since the 70s. The Canadian dollar has been the pits for a long time now - whether its lack of gold reserves has anything to do with it who knows. It's a matter of opinion as to whether it has done the right or wrong thing. Just as the B of E may be doing the very wrong thing just now.

My own feeling is that had the Can gov't kept its gold reserves at previous levels or bought more we would have had a far stronger currency - but they have decided long ago that they won't defend the currency. The idea being I guess that exports are more important than anything. Canadians are poor when they travel abroad - or compare their earnings with people in other western countries. But we're a complacent and apathetic lot. For Europeans, visiting Canada is like visiting a third world country - things are so cheap. d

Average gold high for last 12 years is 404, average low 338.

Average between the high and low is 375 for 12 years.

Trading range is 67 dollars per fine oz.

Not to smart to me to sell asset below a 12 year average,

JUST MY OPINION.

PS,
there is two side to every coin, and the side,

its all on what side you want to see.

Happy trading.

I Take It All Back.

Hutch..you're an idiot.

>>Nope, I can't see why anyone could say that Canada has done a wrong. After all the Canadian Dollar is on the rise and that's without much gold backing it.<<

Canada has relegated itself to third world economic status and appears to the developed world as no more than a butt snorkelling American wannabe. They even quote their reserves in US gunbucks.Just a matter of time now till we hand over the whole enchilada to our " friends " South of the border.

If we weren't so preoccupied with the weather and other such important matters there would be a @#$% revolution based on the mass sell out of this once great country.

But it is in no interest of the French dominated political halls of Ottawa to have a strong and united country with a military force worth recognising and an economy diversified enough with the will to compete with the world with a strong dollar.

I say it's time to get tuff and start our own gunboat diplomacy and shove the good ole loonie up other countries thang.

OH CANADA.....

Land of eternal slavery....right behind South Africa.
