Another potential PR hit...

"Between Hotmail hacks and browser bugs, Microsoft has a dismal track record in computer security. Most of us accept these minor security flaws and go on with life. But how is an IT manager to feel when they learn that in every copy of Windows sold, Microsoft has installed a 'back door' for the National Security Agency (NSA - the USA's spy agency) making it orders of magnitude easier for the US government to access their computers?"

Teflon,
Your optimism is appreciable. I believe FED will raise rates
in October. But that doesn't really matter in reality to MSFT. What does matter is MSFT itself.

Fy00, 1Q: Company said 34 - 35c. Wall street has estimates from 32 to 37c
It will be difficult to beat these by a lot. At best I see 39c
or about 40% increase. That also will be hard.

fy00, 2Q: Growth rate is hard. 30% eps growth would be 48c. Awfully hard
considering effect windows2000 coupons on server sales, potential
and likely delay in software purchase in Q4.

Nov/Dec : Jackson ruling: Likely hit the stock 10 to 15%

It will be difficult to justify 66 PE when the eps will grow at 20 - 30% rates and
then there is this dark cloud of DOJ outcome.

This windows 2000 thing is not going to help till second half of 2000.
