You have to read carefully. It doesn't say "voters", it says "many voters." That could mean "lots." Nor does it say "tax reform." It says "taxes." That is vague; and it may be a reference to GWB's vow to lighten the tax burden on direct descendants of former US presidents.

Hey Bill,

What do you think.....the pollster asks the question....

"Do you slightly disagree, strongly disagree or profoundly disagree with the Republican tax proposal?"

LOL....honey, I think you have this one nailed.

>>even though polls also show that many voters here profoundly disagree with him and the GOP on major issues like taxes

I have NEVER EVER EVER seen a poll that shows voters "profoundly disagree" with the GOP on tax reform. Have you?
<<

Well I think there is a little inequity in that sentence as written. Californians do "profoundly disagee" with the GOP on guns and abortion, but taxes... generally no, fiscal responsibility and tax cuts were popular in the past... but not this time. This recent across the board tax cut package the GOP is putting forth received little support (although I still wouldn't say people were profoundly against it). I don't have any polls (because I don't know where to find polls) but here are 2 articles.

So far, the GOP has had little success in rallying support for across-the-board relief

Does the Budget Surplus Justify Large-Scale Tax Cuts?
The general agreement that the social security trust fund should not be squandered on new spending or tax cuts has implications for the use of the pension and Medicare trust funds.

I could not find, in a cursory search, recent polls confined to California about the issue. However, these might help:

On tax cuts
Poll respondents were asked how they felt about the statement: "The government ought to cut taxes even if it means putting off some important things that need to be done." Responses are compared with those in a similar 1979 poll.
Opinion 1979 poll Now
Strongly agree 42% 15%
Not too strongly agree 20% 6%
Not too strongly disagree 6% 20%
Strongly disagree 6% 39%
Other 26% 20%

You will notice that only 39% profoundly disagree with the priority...but then, this is nationwide....
