James Here is a post from usenet. It seems I am not entirely alone in my beliefs.

He does not. It is man who creates the human suffering.

Read this: Creation.

"As it was in the beginning, so shall it be at the end".
In the beginning, 'we' were all created by God, in hisimage.
'Living' in that place we know as heaven.

Some how, and do not ask me why, the separation [fall] took place. It was not organised by God, it was done in an attempt by us to see if there was an opposite to God.

We, who separated, created this world, and as I said, opposite to God's attributes.

We created flesh and blood, opposite of Spirit.
We created fear, the opposite of Love.
We created hate, punishment, hell, fire, brimstone, volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, all these, and other horrors, like war. All opposite of God's Peace. Anything that would create fear and hate, [the 'opposite' of Love].

And death itself, the opposite of Immortality.
We created time, opposite of Eternity. We created space and
distance, the opposite of Infinity.

We created individualism, the opposite of God's We are One. You probably know this, but individual, means one divided dual. God's one into two, God's Spirit and ego.

We created the concept of karma, which is a device designed to prevent return to God. [Our fear again, and of course a delaying tactic, to put off facing God]. Karma is always placing Atonement a return to God, our true state] into a future life when you are finished paying off your debts.

There are teachings that even 'masters' are still paying off karma.

We invented the process of reincarnation, to reinforce the belief in karma, but reincarnation is the opposite of Immortality, so reincarnation is impossible for God's Creations. Because we are Immortal.

Regrettably, this experiment, for want of a better term, backfired, and we became trapped in this earthly realm, known by all great teachers as the illusion, [maya], which is the opposite of God's Reality, which we currently refer to as heaven.

Only what God created can be Real, all else is No Thing. Illusion. That is, not created by God.
God is our Creator, we cannot change this. We created earth, which we can change, and do.

Another fear took place, the fear of God's retribution, for us separating. So much so, that steps were taken in an attempt to block out God, remove His Knowledge from our egos. We deny God. So we 'look' for Him outside of ourselves, in other people, teachers, lovers, banks and money etc..

And so because of our fears of a God of retribution, all religions teach of a God that is vengeful, and who will have the Last Judgement. Of a God who punishes, hell and Satan. Pure Fear.

Fortunately, two events took place:

1. We cannot separate ourselves from God, as 'we live and move and have our being in God'. God is infinite, were ever we go, God is there. In us, through us, and we in Him.

Our mind is always part of God's. We have a split mind, but as God is Infinite, we only believe that we are separate from God's Mind. We refuse to accept this fact, that we are God's Mind already. We cannot be or become anything else, as we are already God. That is how we were created, and this fact cannot ever be changed.

This is our saving grace. This is the spark that we all search for. Found only within our Selves, no where else. By looking within.
2. The instant the separation [fall] took place, God created the Holy Spirit, to help us return to Him.
The Holy Spirit [God's Voice, or the Word of God], is of heaven who understands the creation of us separated ones, [this world and it's horrors], and He is the final guide who will guide us home. [the home we actually never left, because that is impossible].

The Final Judgement is the responsibility of the Holy Spirit... the Final Judgement is not as portrayed by fundamentalists and others as God sitting on a throne, judging our bad deeds and sins. This is a man made concept, based on our fears of God, of a God who judges,
finds guilty, and sentences you to hell and other awful stuff.

No, the judgement here is a final judgement [evaluation] of what you are not, i.e., not a body, not a split mind, not an ego. Not hate, death, punishment, doom and gloom. The HS [Holy Spirit] evaluates you and what you think are errors, and kindly and gentle helps you to see this, removes the errors of your perceptions, and helps you realise Self Awareness. GENTLY.

Atonement, as you know, means at one ment, with God. Atone, means to make good. So we make good our oneness with God, via the teachings and help of the HS.

It is not required to fully know about and to fully improve the ego, as this is impossible. The HS teaches you Self Realisation, and as this takes place, automatic healing of your mind takes place, gentleness, humbleness etc are automatically recognised in your self, as well as the other attributes of God.

So back to our opening statement: "As it was in the beginning, so shall it be at the end". That is we shall all be once more aware of God, and back in 'heaven' One with God. As it was before the separation.

During this period of assistance by the HS, we experience 'visions of God': holy instances where we perceive, and experience, who we are, and who God IS. This experience can only be described as I AM, God IS. It cannot be described in the English language, the language of man is very coarse, opposite of God's method, which is a 'knowing', without thought or noise. We can only experience short bursts of this, because it may be too traumatic for most people,
and cause untold trauma in some.

As we use God's mind, God's spirit continuously all the time, it is very easy for us to experience this oneness with God. Simply by looking within.

Everything, everything, in this world is created by us, human, ego, or whatever we think we are. Nothing here is of God. It cannot be any other way, because we do not remember God, of His Love, and His Power, and His attributes.

Which is why humanity always teaches fear, punishment, teaches that it is impossible to know God until you have evolved. What evolves? Not the body, as you know the body always dies, and does not 'go to heaven.'

Spirit [consciousness] cannot evolve, as it is already God's. He is Perfect. So Spirit/Soul cannot evolve. We only need to look within, to find the true mind of God, and realise our true Self. No punishment, no final judgement, just a God of Love.

This is the point of life. To realise we have nowhere to go,
nothing to find, nothing to do. Just look within, to find God [Self Realise], and be back home.

Peace and Love to you beloved brother.

Kenneth

Yes, but sorry, my interest is intellectual (there is less than one in a zillion chance I'd decide to adopt your views). But I'm interested in knowing about them anyway. So thanks for the link. I only just learned that this belief system existed. I knew Calvinism, Arminism, and etc, but I'd literally never heard or read of anything called preterism till a few days ago. The internet is certainly an educational resource - through Sam Ferguson I've learned there are still gnostics in the world. And now I've learned there is something called preterism.

Are there many preterists - out there in the world as opposed to here on Ask God? I see through the internet there is the Berean Bible Church which meets in a YMCA building in Chesapeake Va. But are there many other such churches? Is Berean an identifying name? It appears that you and Emile are preterists. I wonder if Chris Land and Robert Hall are as well?

I wonder about a lot of other things. Why do you guys think the second coming of Jesus wasn't noticed by anybody? How do preterists explain why it doesn't appear in history? And when exactly did it take place and how do you know when it did (I saw one reference to sometime between 70 and 150 AD)? And what exactly happened at that time? Did Jesus just pop back into the world and pop back out again?

I take it Paul, Peter, and most Christians ascended to heaven at that time. Why didn't anyone notice this? Why didn't all Christians ascend then too? Of course they couldn't have - otherwise Christianity wouldn't be here now. But wouldn't this mean that present day Christianity and it's scriptures are all products handed down to us by the "left-behind", implicitly rejected, Christians of that time? I mean if all the good ones went to heaven at the second coming, wasn't what was left the dreck?

And of course, I have to wonder if all preterists are nutso about the Jews i.e. obsessed with Israel and "satanic Talmudic Judaism". I know you're the wrong guy to ask this question so you don't have to address this. Maybe I should email a question to one of those two Berean elders in Va.

Although my interest is rooted in simple intellectual curiousity and I'm not going to adopt your views, my asking does provide you preterists an opportunity to communicate your distinctive views in a public forum. (That ought to elicit a response from any preterist out there who isn't embarressed to publicly say so.)
