I didn't know anything about arba, so I looked up their Yahoo profile:

Ariba, Inc. is a provider of intranet and Internet based business to business electronic commerce solutions for operating resources. For the nine months ended 6/30/99, revenues totalled $28.2 million, up from $3.7 million. Net loss totalled $19.4 million, up from $8.3 million.

The action on this recent (June) ipo has been amazing; they haven't earned a cent, and their market cap is already over $6B!

The bad news is that this isn't a Gorilla play; the good news is that it's a classic Godzilla play. Teflon's e.com thread is dealing with those types of stocks, Joel. It's probably already been discussed over there.

The company I would like to see discussed the most in detail is ARBA. I know that this company has been mentioned
numerous times although not recently. I have been to the homepage and am looking for articles as to their domain, who the major players are, and if this is indeed a budding gorilla game.

I have a contact at ARBA who I have spoken with numerous times. The important thing that he always mentions is that SAP is apparently working on an "Ariba Killer" application. The problem for SAP is that they can't quite keep up with this swift start-up!
