The key to understanding the function of a market economy is to never seperate "demand" from "price". There is a limited demand for 4,5, and 6 hundred dollar processors. Wouldn't any rational consumer prefer a 600MHZ Pentium III or Athlon to a 500MHZ one at the same price? Of course they would - but the higher speed Pentium IIIs and Athlons are offered only at the higher price, and that limits the quantity demanded.
