Now all this is gonna be me blue-skying so don't get too worked up. But you say it is an opinion which could be correct. Considering the consequences (a definite, tangible unwanted pregnancy converted into a lifelong commitment - the ultimate act of enslavement) against the benefits (the observance of an ill-proven moral duty to count the embryo as alive) I think that the possibility that the opinion is incorrect requires the utmost attention. The consequences of "erring on the side of the priests" in this case are not trivial - for any of the individuals involved or for their community. And the tired old chant about limiting (or even interdicting!)sexual activity is as anti-life as it comes. The Puritanical tradition is alive and well in the USA, and it is a spiritual vampire. It will not die, and it corrupts everything it touches. But hey, I got lousy sleep last night and all this is just one hair care product's semi-unsolicited opinion. But it could be correct <cheese-eating grin>
