Yeah, most of us on this board take the responsibility for our own investments. I don't do that much research anymore, I primarily like to stick to the same cadre of stocks that I've followed for years. Sometimes however, I will buy a stock based on the "recommendation" of a friend or board postee with a good track record.

The crossover from pure information dissemination to "hype" occurs when one urges others to buy a stock. Its okay to say "I am adding/holding XYZ for reasons A, B, and C". But when a posting assume the tack "I own ABC stock, you should buy it soon before the institutions get in, etc.", then the line has been crossed.

Why is it so important to DD Associates/Jade that I purchase that stupid Canadian penny stock. Why is it so important to r. edwards that I buy MEXP? Maybe they just want that internal good feeling that comes knowing that they personally are responsible for creating wealth in others. How noble.
