Hi Larry,

I'm a fellow QP2 user. I've been using QP for about 4 years now and simply love it. Looking through watchlists of charts is how I find great AIM candidates. I haven't spent a lot of time writing my own scans yet, but found the pre-packaged volatility scan to be somewhat useful. I agree that Beta is a start, but not really what we are looking for.

I would be interested to see the scan you mentioned. I sometimes think of the AIM algorithm in terms of mathematics. If you compare a stock chart to a sine wave with "frequent cycles" of "high magnitude" oscillation, this is what we are looking for in terms of patterns. Perhaps a scan could be written in QP2 that would identify charts that have this pattern.

This is a little different from a stock that just has a 50% fluctuation in price one time. We want to find stocks that have frequent big moves like this. I think QP2 is an excellent vehicle for weeding out good AIM stocks, and I commend you on your efforts. Perhaps you can use your scan writing skills to narrow down the list of stocks for those that meet the only the strictest of AIM criteria. That would be quite a feat!

Nice to see you back.
Best Wishes,
Bill
