I think Taiwan could spare a few volunteers. Just to show some gratitude. But you never see it. Personally, I'd like to see a contingent of Turks travel here once the country is back on its feet and help in rebuilding an American town destroyed by a tornado or somesuch disaster. But don't hold your breathe. Many of these countries should have "Take and Not Give" embroidered on their national flags.

The Taiwanese are upholding their independence for them, not for us. If this thorn called Taiwan were removed from China's foot, the anti-American lobby over there would collapse. That would result in more freedom everywhere, including mainland China. My take is that they're thrilled that we support Taiwan. It gives them something to use to brainwash their people.

And I can assure you that if they took over Taiwan, their biggest concern would be to continue the export flow uninterrupted. China's gradually turning capitalist, from all appearances.

Of course, a capitalist China that hates the US and a Communist China that hates the US seems to me to be pretty much the same animal.
