>>What is the Millennium Storm? It is a cosmic event that will take
place on May 5, 2000. On that day several of the planets (Earth,
Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) will align into a straight line with the sun. You might be saying, so what? Well, it seems that this alignment could cause some of the most significant solar flares in the history of mankind. It seems that these solar flares have a real nasty effect on a number of things including human beings. <<

Y2K: Preparing for the Year 2000 - A Community Guide
City of Oxnard, California (Population 158,000+)
18 page booklet

[Bravo! Not the usual 72-hr spin. EXCELLENT preparation guide.]

"There are too many computers and chips to test and repair in the time remaining before the deadline. It is unknown if the resulting problems will last 72 minutes, 72 hours, or 72 days. When reviewing this booklet, use your best judgment for preparations" ...

This is REALLY a good booklet to have on-hand. I'm very impressed that the city of Oxnard has put something this comprehensive together, to distribute to their citizens.

HOAX...HOAX...HOAX

From NASA's Web Site:

Question:
>I heard that on May 5th, 2000 all nine planets in our solar system will be in a straigt line for the first time ever. Is this true??<

Answer:
No, all nine planets are not going to be in a straight line on May 5th, 2000. Planetary alignments of one sort or another happen all the time and have for 5 billion years, and they have NO effect on the Earth, despite what some kooks and con artists say.

The gravitational attraction of anything other than the Sun and the moon on the Earth is essentially negligible. The energy required to actually flip the spin axis of the Earth is huge, due to something called conservation of angular momentum. The magnetic field of the Earth does flip aperiodically, and actually we are long overdue, but the alignment of the planets will have nothing to do with it. The magnetic field flip probably has its origin in the turbulent magma dynamo that generates the magnetic field.

The term for this alignment phenomenon is "hoax".
