Fair enough, but to use an example that a lot of people saw, 60 minutes last week (2 sundays ago), going to gun dealers in Chicago with undercover cops that were posing as felons, bringing along a girlfriend as the buyer. The dealers were clearly made aware of the felon status and yet did nothing to stop the sale... why would they anyway?

In my case I don't know where all these guns are coming from. I know there are a lot of them around, and that almost every month there is another rage induced act of gun violence, I mean just in this state too. Last week it was that white supremacist at the Jewish Center, we had the schools in Stockton, the Circuit City thing, 101 California, the murders in yosemite... etc. etc. Of course it is possible that all of the guns involved were stolen, probably not by the shooters themselves but by someone who sold them in the black market... now what?

I am not a fervent anti-gun person but I do find it extremely troubling that the largest customers for metal detectors these days are schools, and that bouncers at clubs I go to now feel the need to carry a gun. It didn't used to be that way... what happened?
