This is why I try not to argue religion. It's because, I can't really argue on that one. The new testament was written by several individuals over a period of years encompassing at least a century after Christ's death. Hence I do not know what Christ wanted a Christian to be or believe. And this is not even to mention centuries of keeping the Bible in Latin, so the proles wouldn't know what was in it, or the numerous revisions over the years. (NIV is my favorite though) Because the Torah was kept mostly pure over the millenia by Jewish scribes, I do put more stock in it. But, what I do believe, is that most of the new testament had to have been influenced by jewish teaching, and the old testament. After all, gentiles were pretty rare at the beginnings of Christianity, we've done a good job of reproducing though.
