Hi Unq,

Oracle is one of the holdings my broker got me into awhile back. He is now my ex-broker but surprisingly enough this was one of his winners. He got me in at 25 and as soon as I hit 1 year holding it for the tax consequence, I am out of it. In the meantime if it still wants to run up, I can live with that.

I wonder if the run up has anything to do with Oracle's entry into the front office software realm. Maybe Merlin can shed some light on this.
Let's hope Q can hold onto their plus gains so far.

I have little faith in Oracle, as Ellison seems to be fixated on trying to hurt Gates and has lost focus his own company

I agree w/ you Unc. He's irrationally bent on vengeance, which impairs decision making and wastes energy. Besides, you can't beat MSFT.

Thanks, Uncle and others, for the synopsis on 'general' feelings towards Oracle. I was afraid to say something so bold about Oracle that might include any hint of smoke and mirrors on a board like this. I did hold it for years and ran for cover recently when it climbed up to the upper 30's. Watching Oracle hit a 52 week high today made me wonder why it was 'breaking out' and then I remembered I hadn't seen anything mentioned on this board outside of the chat about Oracle's product to compete with Siebel's product being delayed until summer 2000.

Nevertheless, even though it is a different part of the GG than Oracle, I have focused on Siebel for the last year and certainly have enjoyed developments in that company as opposed to Oracle. Mike Holland is always droning on about Oracle and Mike Murphy seems to like it as well. My brother-in-law is yet another Mike who is long on Oracle. Maybe you have to be named Mike to see and like the numbers that Oracle is posting....

Thanks for everyone's candid view as well as the explanation of the selection process for the G&K Index. I appreciated the effort, believe me.
