I don't think there are taggants in powder. If there were, there wouldbe quite an aftermarket for "old stock".
I have multiple personalities gun-wise. With handguns I like the big thump ... but my favorite cartridge is the 357 Magnum. I have both sizes of Casull in that chambering.
Rifle-wise I am averse to recoil. A 308 or heavy 270 is my comfort limit, and I'm happiest keeping it below, say, 243. No big game hunter here, sorry. As a result I am also a rifle shot placement kind of guy ... but with one "cheater". I'm more interested in group size, with less regard to where the first one goes. I'm still on the learning curve there, and once I get my confidence I'll make a try for putting it in the middle of the one-inch circle with the first shot. My accuracy guns are heavy-barreled custom jobs in 223 Ackley and 6mm PPC. I'm thinking warm thoughts about a more lightly-built unit in 22-250 Ackley (sort of a coyote specialist), but cash is an issue now.
