I think your comparison to the 1920's is completely erroneous, particularly in your allusion that new technology does not push the market up. I believe that underestimation of this technological/internet/communications revolution that we are in the midst of may cost the overbearish a lot of potential profits in the next 10-15 years. Of course this does not account for a potential one year bear market or some temporary and violent market reactions to the downside. We'll certainly have those corrections, but I believe the longer trend is up and up very big as even more new and innovative products, services, and methods of distribution come on line.

But I do agree the Fed has the power to talk the market up or down. I don't think there's a lot of money to be made betting against the Fed.
