Just a word of caution....Csco and Intel have invested 10 million each in Lumenon's competitor...Bookham.

I think Cisco is covering all their bases. Its too early to tell if you should follow the Money (Bookham) or follow the Technology (lumm).

Of course, you are correct in that 'traditional' DWDM assemblies are actually getting smaller as we speak. My sarcasm was directed more-so to some of the original breadboard assemblies that were passed along as commercial products two or three years ago, when all of the splash in this sector was made.

But pizza box size? Okay, perhaps, if they are scaled down versions with limited numbers of lambda ports, and of the more passive varieties (as opposed to those which employ self contained, in-line amplification). But on average, the service providers would obviously be delighted to see some further miniaturization taking place here.
