re: ":"The stock has been unusually strong considering the awful Q3 numbers expected."..."

Do not rule out the possibility of a trading halt for an earnings advisory. I do not know anything special; but, with all of the ATHLON 650's that they may be delivering, prudence and the experience of past lawsuits may compel them to advise analysts to up their estimates.

GOOD LUCK!

Jimmy,

Re" AMD strength"

Just a side note, I had posted that I sold some Jan 2002 calls a while back.

i sold 100 and total till yesterday was around 250 total.

Somebody bought 700 contracts earlier today.

So as well as stock some major options buying is going on as well.

regards,

kash

Jim,

RE: ...and the Intel/Dell C-u-latermine is announced in late October.

news.com

Earlier, Intel delayed Coppermine for desktops and notebooks until late October, but last week chief executive Craig Barrett said that
the first Coppermine desktop chips would arrive in September. Barrett also promised increased chip speeds, saying the desktop versions would debut at 700-MHz,
rather than the expected 600-MHz.

What month is it now Jimmy?

Jimmy - <You see...the K7 will run at 1000 Mhz on .25u with a little seed path refinement and about 1400 MHz on .18u.>

Bookmarked.

Even if true, they will have to ramp the thing. There is more to bumping speed grades than just proclaiming it's possible, and they would still have to contend with Intel's own MHz ramp, whatever process generation.

You did see the G4 MHz at 450MHz on MOT's ".18" Cu process, didn't you?

Says who? Even AMD will need to go to 0.18 microns to get to one gigahertz. Super-cooled setups don't count, or else Intel could claim they got their first with their super-cooled gigahertz Pentium II demo.
