<<Be careful if you come down too strongly on the states rights side -- there are still states which I believe would restore segregation if they had the option.>> And, in a true constitutional republic, the people being segregated could move to a non segregation state if they didn't like it. Or, they could get enough anti-segregation people to move to the segregating state, and swing the vote. Or, just get the supreme court to rule that desegregation policies are protected by the constitution, which I'm pretty sure they've already done.
