Cisco has been trying to build firewall and VPN functions into their routers for years. However, as we expected, embedded firewalls and VPNs have been found to be very hard to manage and upgrade. To embed firewall and VPN into hardware was a wrong idea. It was wrong from the very beginning. That's why they are now looking for a software partner to cooperate with them on management solutions. Both firewall and VPN need to be routinly, or at least quite often, managed. A net manager has to set up different policy for individual users. I believe that CheckPoint knows what the markets want. What I like is that they always act quicker and earlier than their competitors. For example, their VPN products came out more than 6 months than others. They already had their net security management solution software named FloodGate two years ago. It's two year ahead of Cisco. Today's profit taking won't last longer. The fast growth rates of CheckPoint determined this stock is worth to carry a high P/E ratio. The stock is still very cheap. The new intraday high at $90 is a bullish signal.
