I've always felt that Martin Luther really sold people a bill of goods, what ever happened to paying penance before you received forgiveness? Maybe that's what's wrong with our culture, people don't even have to own up to their own sins. (I'm not saying that you didn't, but how many "born again" murdurers are there on death row. How do you make penance for that.)

This discussion has drifted far from what my original premise was - to reduce the violence against gays. However I will respond to the abomination claim in the bible after I have done some research. In Leviticus I believe he says to kill your children if they curse you. Of course we find that unacceptable today. But I guess it is ok to pick and choose which passage in the bible we want to believe. I am not ducking the question but I will need time to do research. Basically you also say that God makes homosexuals, loves homosexuals and will accept homosexuals as long as they live as heterosexuals. However most homosexuals are not happy living as heterosexuals. It is estimated that 50% of teen suicides are committed by homosexuals. Is this high rate of suicide because they can't stand the thought of being unhappy for the rest of their lives? Is this God's plan - to make people homosexual and make them miserable for the rest of their lives? I always thought God was a benevolent being yet he chooses to make 10% of the population unhappy? What a cruel God that would be. In my opinion I do not believe that is God's plan. I believe he accepts all men and that he does not frown on homosexuality as long as it is between consenting partners.
