Why is Nextel trying to get NextWave's PCS licenses?

So they have spectrum to deploy a CDMA based data service! Currently they have none unless they think they can leave all their iDEN customers hanging while they overlay a CDMA network and we know that's not going to happen. I never said iDEN doesn't have a 3G upgrade path. I said it is not as cost effective as the path available to CDMA networks. In a competitive field, especially one already leveraged with high debt, the name of the game is to be able to offer the most for the least.

As far as 3G being vapor ware all I can say is Ha! The important thing is it will be CDMA and that's not due to politics, it's because CDMA offers a competitive advantage. If you can't see these things, I'm not going to hold your hand and explain it to you. Wear the blinders if you want but stock prices are based on forward looking analysis and the big boys aren't going to wait for iDEN's competitive disadvantage to show up on the bottom line before it's out of favor.
