Our son ... the reason for the Houston trip ... was griping one day back in the mid 80s about how his diesel pickup was so slow ....

when I asked him just what he thought he would wish for in the way of a swift rig ... he said he'd really like a FireBird with a big block in it ....

Didn't take long to set that deal in motion ...
I'd traded for an Olds wagon, I think it was ... anyway it had a 455 and I found a 78 FBird with a blown motor ...
we (I showed him how but he did all the work) dropped the 455 in ... had to redo a whole bunch of stuff .... painted it (same deal as the motor ... I showed , he did) red with black lightening bolts down the side ....
put an eight bolt (think it was) Ford rear end hooked to a supercooled trannie and at one time had dual quad Holleys, full cam, and tuned headers .....

damn, would that baby run ....

had to loosen all the motor mounts and jack up the engine to change the two rear sparkplugs ....

when he totalled it ... speed was a factor ... Marilyn nearly totaled me along with him and the car ....
that was the last of the screamers that I helped on ......

and I guess he is over it too ...his current vehicle is a Mazda pickup, one with the two little doors behind the regular ones ...... ggggg
