The important thing to remember is that many people are different and while we don't have to agree with all of them it is also important that we do not do anything to harm them. Your parents are also right when they say homosexuals can catch aids but heterosexuals can also catch aids and that is why we will teach you about safe sex. Isn't that a hate crime?>> It is a hate crime if some racial slur is made during the confrontation. For example if a group of black kids are beating up a white kid and they say "take this you honkey" then it is a hate crime. The same is true if white kids are beating up black kids - they must say something like "take that you nigger". Without the racial slur it is not a hate crime. That is the way the law is written so it is not slanted towards one group or another. There may be other ways to make it a hate crime but I am not aware of them. I am not a lawyer. Erase Hate, Dennis
