Part of the problem, X/DSL is only a stop gap measure although it has been around for 10+ years. The CEO of Bell Atlantic stated this at the Vail Conference a few weeks ago. He basically stated that what ever the new service/protocol is, it should begin roll out in two years. But full ramp up is not expected for eight. Bell South is doing a test implementation of Fiber direct to customers houses, 100 houses initially I believe. It flat blows every other solution out the water.
