I just listened to a Bear Stearns/Intel conference call discussing IA-64 and the opportunity in the server market.

It was very convincing (albeit one-sided) that Merced and it's four successors will garner a significant portion of the enterprise server market due to performance, value and flexibility.

In the discussion on value they (John Miner and Mike Fister from Intel) quoted the following numbers:

8-Way $/tpmC

Intel: 18.46
Alpha: 55.45
PA-Risc: 56.67
SPARC: 77.66

My knowledge on this is limited and I would be interested in hearing comments from others.

Tony, Re: Good point about Osha being due for a price target upgrade for Intel.

That info came from my site restex.com.

If someone (SK) is going to "borrow" someone else's comments, it would be nice if he at least cited the source.

Bob

Tony:

Re: This morning, I saw on CNBC that ML came out with a list of ten best tech buys going forward. 1 - 2 were Cisco and Intel.

Did they host say they were listed in order of ML's preference? It appeared to me they were just in alphabetical order.
