I think it is amazing that every time the oils start really moving tensions build on this thread. Is it ego of who's stock is doing the best or what?? Remember it only money and you can't take it with you. If you can't have fun on a day like today (for longs that is), maybe you should go take a walk or find another hobby.

This post is not directed at anyone in particular so please don't flame me. Or at least wait until my stocks are down (VBG)

Getting Along
Hi Jim, you wrote <<<"Can't we all just get along? >>>

Dispute is unavoidable, but certainly we should strive to disagree in a amicable way, if possible.

If you and I have different opinions about the future prospects of a particular stock, we should be able to discuss that without personal insults.

When very small companies are at issue, some people will believe --with justification-- that negative comments about a stock they own may cost them money by influencing potential buyers who read these boards. Or that they themselves can increase the price of the stock with enthusiastic postings. (Notice how seldom SLB is spoken of in the enthusiastic tones that the tiny e&p's seem to engender <G>) So the posts in regard to such stocks are understandably more vehement, on the whole.

Not that everyone who is enthusiastic about a stock has ulterior motives. Not at all. But one has to bear these things in mind.

Enthusiasm is fine, and can be fun to have and to read,
but someone's enthusiasm is Not a good reason to buy a stock.

The Hype referred to by myself and others is sometimes seen as distasteful because it may be attempting to influence people to buy a stock for the wrong reasons. It is possibly the tool of someone trying to manipulate a small company's stock price.

Still, it should be possible to politely ask questions of an enthusiastic poster, and determine by his and others' responses if his facts and reasoning are sound. A sharp reader will be able to pick out most of the predators, I think. One's own research most important, of course.

regards,
diana
