Diana,
SI, I assume, can provide us with some insight in numbers of visitors
to this thread. It is certainly enormous. People come here to fish
for ideas, to form their opinions. And the blatant hype misguides a lot of them.

Everyone! Hot! Hot! A college buddy who works as an analyst for a mutual fund company here in San Francisco said they just started buying WEXP at 4.5 and will accumulate until 10, with a target of 20. The company released internal memo's stating that they think WTI will hit $35 in 6 mo. and expect most OSX issues to double from here. BUY NOW! before they general masses discover this little gem. When you are relaxing in your Maui Condo two years hence, raise a toast to you know who!!!

I spent a couple of years as a volunteer patrolling the AOL stock message boards looking for postings that conveyed dubious intent.

Whatever the true definition of "hype" may be, we volunteers were on the lookout for any posting which directly stated that the reader should immediately purchase the stock of discussion. If the rationale for making the purchase was "I just heard from a friend . . " or "a reliable source just told me . . ", then the contributor was flagged and reported to central command.

Personal opinions on the future direction of FLC does not constitute hype, nor does stating what one is personally buying or selling.

A couple of past contributors on this board strongly appear to have manipulative intent. I think it is the responsibility of the community of regulars to point out suspicious messages to newbie readers.

Slider engages in "agressive" cheerleading sometimes, tiptoeing the hype line at times. However, IMO he has established something of a track record, and his picks have personally made my capital gains ledger substantially higher for 1999. But MEXP is much more easily pushed around than RRC, CRK and TMR. The "community" has on many occasions voiced their displeasure re: Slider and MEXP. The newbies have been forwarned.
