Christopher, I think you may find that no international organizations and few, if any, nations recognize the Indonesian claim to sovereignty over East Timor. It is a situation somewhat similar to South Africa's earlier assertion of control over what is now Namibia. Of course, I could be wrong - it would not be the first time.

East Timor has never been recognized as part of Indonesia. Indonesia invaded it in 1975.
