Well, if there is statistical evidence that gays on average are higher earners than the rest of the population (and I don't know if that is true, although I have heard it), it could be because on a % basis they are concentrated in SF and NYC, which are the highest cost of living/salary areas in the country.

I have seen sociological studies given play in the news, and I never saw anything challenging that conclusion. I do not have anything at my fingertips, unfortunately, but even your claim that they are about on par with everyone else belies the idea of pervasive discrimination impinging on them.....
