Truedog, I don't share your opinion of scholars, namely:

<<Biblical scholars are like any other scholar. They read something,or
things, form an opinion that suits them, and, because most of them are
pompous academics, they announce their opinions as if they were fact and no one dares to question their, self determined, importance.>>

Since I am a scholar myself, I am probably prejudiced. <g>

But the fact of the matter is that any scholar has to go up against his peers, and this is always a tough jury, one that can be counted on not just to "question" the kind of "self-determined importance" to which you refer, but to blast it out of the water, when the occasion demands.

Faith is believing in something without conclusive
proof.

According to Aquinas, Faith is the assent of the intellect to that which is believed.

I have always liked this definition as clearly distinguishing between belief (lacking the assent of the intellect) and faith (belief with the assent of the intellect).
