I'm a little confused by your fact patterns (why are A & B tried?--aren't they the victims).

I don't have problems with two trials on different offenses with this proviso: that the facts asked to be found by the juries are different in each case.

What bothers me is an acquittal where Jury A finds that M was not in Sacramento on the evening A/B were killed there; and then M is tried the second time, with Jury B finding that M was in Sacramento, and convicts him. That troubles me, and gives me pause.
