There are 24 teachers for
each student and the per student spending is only $5,055

Wow! 24 teachers per student -- if kids can't learn there, they can't learn anywhere! <g>

One of the hellacious costs of public schools is special education required by law. Nationally about one-of-nine students is SE. It is not unusual for a SE student to require a full-time aide for a student even if he is mainlined. Special education classes, if separate, are very small. This is one of the reasons overall classes of 20 or 22 average asre found. These costs are burdens that private and religious schools seldom bear. One student in Hawaii that I know of has educational costs of over $200,000 a year, almost as much as those in juvenile prison ($375,000 a year).
