Sam,

It was disappointing to see the negative comments posted about you the past few days. To Sam's credit, he is THE ONLY PERSON POSTING ON THIS THREAD WHO HAS ANY PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE in promoting and selling the MymusicCard as a fundraising tool. Whether the rest of the thread chooses to believe it or not, Sam does have knowledge that would be of benefit to TSIG. If TSIG does not have the proper staff in place to collect and analyze this information, then shame on TSIG.

We can discuss from now until doomsday revenue, EPS and P/E projections, but without a successful understanding and execution of the card concept by the fundraising participants, those numbers are only worth the email that they are posted on. If you have never been involved in fundraising, or were never involved with anything more complicated than a candy bar, maybe it's time to participate with a local school or group and experience for yourself what it takes to be successful. Potential contributors walking out of supermarkets can easily understand the candy bar concept in the 3-5 seconds you have to get their attention. Getting 3-5 seconds for a music card pitch is not enough, and it only confuses the prospective purchaser.

<<Tell me this....pretend Im a 12 year old kid and I want you to explain how the music card works and how to sell it...Let me see how easily you can explain it with all that you know about it....Now Remember the People doing the explaining have no clue how it works so your explanation will and should be much better....OK Im ready, tell me how
to sell those cards....>>

Sam, you asked me how to get a group of 12 year olds and their parents to understand the program. The best chance of success is by leveraging normal human behavior. Also recognize that to achieve the best results, please think of this as a referral program, not a sales program.

First, let's look at human behavior:

1. Given a choice, most people would rather talk about themselves then someone else.

2. People are more comfortable talking about something they are familiar with.

3. Most people are comfortable sharing a good experience. The person listening to the experience can sense the enthusiasm.

4. Having a good experience increases the chance of the person repeating that experience and telling others about that experience.

5. The process repeats...

Now let's apply this to using the MyMusicCard for fundraising:

The Organizer receives and reads what's in the package.
The first page reads something like this -

"Thank you for helping organize the MyMusicCard Fund Raising program for XXXXXXXXXXX.

What is the program?
The MyMusicCard program is a unique way to acquire funding for your XXXXXXXX program by providing a popular product at significantly reduced prices.

What is the product?
Music CD's. How many kids, or for that matter, adults, do you know that purchase music CD's for their personal use?

How much money will this make for our program, and what is the costs of the products?
Details are included in the enclosed materials. As with any program, results are based on team effort. We believe the MyMusicCard is one of the easiest fundraising events your program will ever experience.

What do I have to do?
Organize and call a meeting of your kids. Read through your materials. Use the enclosed first meeting script to conduct your meeting. Very important - take notes and distribute them as indicated in the script. Above all - HAVE FUN!!!"

Call MyMusicCard at 800-xxx-xxxx if you have any questions.
********************
OPENING MEETING SCRIPT.

1. Get the group together. Bring one or two newer music CD's with you to the meeting.

Reason for the meeting?
"Fundraising time again (groan). Okay, but this time it's something most of you are probably already an expert in!

How many of you have ever bought a music CD or got one as a gift? (Hold up CD's. Ask for show of hands)
How many of you like buying newly released CD's recorded by your favorite singers? (SOH)
Given the chance, how many of you would like to buy those new music CD?s at the lowest prices around? (SOH)
Why?" (Shut up, listen and take notes)

2. "Okay, I told you guys/gals you were already experts. Now let's talk about how it works."
<á---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------…>

" After hearing about the program, how many of you would buy your own MyMusicCard? (SOH)
Can you think of reasons to introduce the MyMusicCard to your friends, family or neighbors?"
(Shut up, listen and take notes)

Distribute program paperwork. Encourage the group to have their parents call if they want more information.
Ask the parent how the child explained the program (good feedback). Tell the parent that kids/people are going to buy music CD's anyway. Why not at the best prices?

Type up the comments and ideas that the group had. Copy and distribute to the participants.

3. Establish a deadline. Monitor the program on a weekly basis. Share positive experiences. Develop local contests as suggested by LL or TSIG.
*********

Treat the program as an extension of good experiences enjoyed by the fundraising participants. Let us not forget that this is, in fact, a good deal.
