John: That was an important post. The card is not an "easy" sell. You don't get an object of "instant gratification" in your hands when you buy one. It needs EXPLANATION. It involves TECHNOLOGY, which still scares some people.

The kids are going to need a "KISS" (keep it simple stupid) script of some kind to sell the cards to the unsuspecting public (the "outside the grocery store" audience). They are going to need some kind of training, similar to the scenario in your post.

However, there is another type of buyer, the parents, for example, who will be able to hear a more extended explanation that will be more relaxed and therefore more fruitful. More of an "easy" sell.

Leaving Sam out of the equation, I think that your post explains the selling scenario quite well. Would you consider forwarding your post to TSIG?

Tom

I just wished you knew what you were talking about when it comes to Sam. Sam pumped TSIG big time and gave incredible info out to certain people to suck them in, he is the reason I got back in at .445, for he told me it was the last time I will ever see that price again and it was. One week later the company lost Hwang and others and the price started to plummet. Sam plays for him self don't be fooled by his jokes and his bashing. It seems you have only been around a short time and no idea of the people history on this thread. If Sam would have found a guy posting as he is now he would have laid into them for bashing his stock. Now he has absolutely no consideration for the people left in his wake, and I like the guy just hate his bashing.

Thanks for the reply John. What I need to know is how will the schools present the card to the students, Such as assembly? or will they make up a flyer and send it home with them..I also would like to know what age group will be doing it.

What I have seen is that Kids around 12 will have very little interest in standing in front of a store or banging on doors in fear that some one they knows should see them and its just not a cool thing to do.

Older kids will not even try to Sell them as they(and also do thier parents) think they look a little rediculous standing in front of a store peddeling cards. (just not that cute little 5 year old anymore).

Parents will try to sell them to relatives and work associates and some will succeed, but most wont as everyone and there brother is trying to sell things for other fundraisers such as soccer, softball, football, band, ect. Most people will spend a buck and thats it. So what you get is a lot of people unwilling to buy a 10.00 dollar coupon to give them the right to purchase 20 cd's at a future date over the net or phone by using a credit card.(remember, there are many people who still wont give credit card numbers on the phone let alone the net.)

To Most people Cd's are an impulse buy and if the kids were selling cd's they might succeed, but they are selling coupons to buy cd's from a place most people will never see. Its a hard sell. The older kids will tell you that they can send a penny to Columbia House and get 10 cd's so why should I spend 10 bucks before I can even buy 1.

I can go on but Im out of time....
Sam
PS..Sorry no time to spell check.

Hi John, I would also like to ask what sort of motivation has been set up to get the kids to sell cards...
For our kids the motivation was the prizes(and we know where that is heading) :(
For the parents the motivation was the fact that if they did not raise 600.00 dollars each their kid could not go to Cooperstown for the Nationals. This was the biggest Motivator.

So Ill ask again...what is going to motivate the kids and the parents to sell these coupons?...If it's just for school spirit the shareholders are in trouble.
Sam

<<Distribute program paperwork. Encourage the group to have their parents call if they want more information.
Ask the parent how the child explained the program (good feedback). Tell the parent that kids/people are going to buy music CD's anyway. Why not at the best prices?>>

John, I re-read your post and Im still a little fuzzy on it. Who will be organizing these meetings?...Are the meetings at school or in peoples homes?
Remember, you are dealing with volunteers.Right? People lose interest real fast when things are too to confusing or there is to many meetings to take up their precious time...In fundraising, simple is better.
Sam
