Post from YHOO board: messages.yahoo.com NASDAQ Volume Break out by: skrapse (35/M/Longview, WA) 82892 of 82895 Here are the numbers from NASDAQ trader ( nasdaqtrader.com ) for the month of August, along with the other market makers in the top ten. NASDAQ August Total 20,547,330,738 The August total was off slightly form July numbers, but places August as the third consecutive month in which volume was over 20 billion. Now for the top ten NITE 2,011,459,149 (9.8%) MASH 1,536,074,575 (7.5%) HRZG 987,364,986 (4.8%) ISLD 985,991,659 (4.8%) SBSH 852,982,546 (4.2%) MLCO 835,143,134 (4.1%) SLKC 791,885,624 (3.9%) GSCO 732,434,162 (3.6%) INCA 647,395,784 (3.2%) MSCO 604,402,834 (2.9%) In looking at the numbers the first thing I did was to consider NITE's volume over the last two months and how that compares to the previous qtr. With questions of NITE making the numbers squarely on everyones mind, I myself wanted to see how they are doing. The total for JULY and AUG is 4,230,890,034. Comparing that to the previous quarter in which NITE had volume of6,171,293,757. With the difference of under 2 billion. With September off to a solid start, I feel fairly confident on NITE's ability to meet or exceed the previous volume numbers form Q2. Once done looking at the volume numbers we can look at market share. At first glance you might think that NITE is losing the battle to the ECN's, because overall the ECN market share rose to the highest level of the year in August to 11.6% (ECN break out will be on the NITE Club page clubs.yahoo.com . But in totaling the numbers from Q1, Q2, and the two months completed in Q3, I find that NITE continues to gain in market share as well. NITE market share in Q1 was 9.7%, Q2 was 9.8%, so far in Q3 we have a total market share of 10.1%. This is fantastic, and only reinforces my thoughts that the public is being duped into thinking that the ECN's are the "god-send" of wall street. Onward to October! Good Luck To All!
