Only half listened. Hope they replay. There is audio at:
msnbc.nasdaq.com

Did you see him on CNBC today?

I agree with Tim Luke, CS is next networker to be taken out. With
Palm spun, I no longer look for IBM to acquire 3COM and think it will
take a year or two of better earnings before anyone else is interested
in acquiring 3COM. I had hoped that after the USRX merger 2 years
ago, 3COM could be a commodity dealer like Wal-Mart, but, with the
current management, they are just another Kmart.

Eric sounded like the spin-off was in prep for a merger or the like.

o~~~ O

I didn't see it, but that's my reading of the tea leaves. Many of the potential acquirers of 3Com would not want the Palm division since it would not meet their strategic goals. If someone were to buy 3Com and treat it as a pooling transaction they would be prevented from divesting the Palm division for at least a couple of years. Clearing it off the deck removes a major obstacle to doing a merger, and allows the 3Com shareholders to derive maximum value for the Palm unit. When they spin off the non-IPO'd shares we shareholders receive full value (at a higher P/E than we're seeing now!), instead of later or never.

Just one man's opine......... but I approve.
