Larry, I am critical about CSCO making announcement based on non existing contracts in carrier space and products which are in development. All major announcement in carrier space are about cooperation and promise to deliver. When NN goes with announcement it is real deal, when products are already shipped. And this is separate from others things NN were doing wrong- UB,previous management,production problems etc. Read my recent posts again, and be more specific. Zbyslaw

Canada's Nortel Is Sole Contender to Supply Mexico's Unefon Mexico City, Sept. 14 (Bloomberg) -- Nortel Networks Corp., North America's No. 2 phone-equipment maker, has become the sole contender to win a contract valued at more than $600 million to supply equipment to Mexican upstart telephone company Unefon SA, Reforma newspaper reported. Marco Antonio Malfavon, a spokesman for Lucent Technologies Inc., said Nortel was left as the sole contender after Unefon and Lucent failed to reach a contract agreement, and after a proposal presented by Sweden's Ericsson AB failed to meet requirements, according to Raul Lucido, Ericsson's vice chairman of strategic planning and marketing. Ernesto Sarenana, Nortel's marketing director, said Nortel and Unefon had yet to sign a contract although he expected the companies to close the transaction by the end of the year, the paper said. Unefon, part-owned by Mexican broadcaster TV Azteca SA, wants to start offering wireless telephone services beginning next year. (Reforma 9/14 7A) NYSE/AMEX delayed 20 min. NASDAQ delayed 15 min. While it is clear that Newbridge did not bid on this contract, it is also obvious that Newbridge does not have the product diversification to offer complete networks such as is indicated in the above.
