obviously it is utter nonsense to say that a new bull market began last october. note that a/d and NH/NL NEVER got back to bull market status in the current upleg. it is of course possible that we will continue up into year-end, but is it likely? my answer is NO. if we continue in a trading range until year end, i would expect 2,000 to begin with a giant blow-off, not a crash (we would than trace the '80's Nikkei almost perfectly).
however, the complacency and poor internals all suggest that the day of reckoning draws ever closer.
